Peer mentors are required to do a project.

This project was to have someone from the community come in to teach my students something--Karate.

On this rainy afternoon one of my peer mentors Rayne set up a Karate leader from her martial arts Dojo to come talk to my kids, give them a demonstration, and allow them to try out some karate moves. What an amazing experience. The instructor was wonderfully accommodating and my kids were enthralled with trying out Karate. Academics are important but equally important is creating relationships with community members and trying new things.
